Thrush is a fungal infection, commonly caused by a type of yeast called candida. Although candida is naturally present in the body, an imbalance can trigger thrush symptoms. Fluconazole 150mg (also known as Diflucan and other brand names) kills certain types of fungi and restores your body's natural balance.
Fluconazole treatment for thrush is simple - just one capsule to be swallowed with a glass of water. You can take this medicine at any time of day, with or without a meal.
Women taking fluconazole should see an improvement within a few days. Some women will notice improvement in 24 hours.
For men, the condition can take a little longer to clear up. The symptoms should clear up within a few days, although this can take up to a week.
If your condition hasn't cleared up within one week, you should consult a doctor.
Thrush is an infection which can occur without sexual contact, so it is not a sexually transmitted disease. However, the infection can be passed on during sex, so it is recommended that you should not have sex until the infection has cleared up.
If you regularly suffer from thrush, then it's advisable that both you and your partner have thrush treatment at the same time.
Taking too much can make you unwell, so contact your doctor or nearest hospital immediately if you take more than you should.
As with any medicine, there are side effects. Although a serious allergic reaction to fluconazole is rare. Common side effects (occurring in one in ten patients) include nausea, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, wind, rash and headache. However, these side effects are usually mild and don't tend to last long. If symptoms persist, or are particularly severe, contact your doctor.

You should not take fluconazole while you are pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding.
Do not take fluconazole if you've ever had an allergic reaction to any of its ingredients or any other medicines which you have taken to treat a fungal infection.

Diflucan is used to treat various fungal infections such as thrush, infected vagina, skin infections, candidiasis, etc. It is also used to treat certain types of fungal infections, such as genital herpes, etc. Fluconazole is an antiprotozoal and antifungal agent. It works by killing the fungi causing the infection.
Uses
Dosage
The usual dosage is 1 gm every 4-6 hours for 7-10 days. The duration of treatment depends on the infection being treated. It is important to complete the full course of therapy as prescribed by your doctor, even if you start to feel better. Do not stop taking this medicine and use regularly as your doctor prescribes. This drug can be taken with or without food.
Warnings
The use of Diflucan may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, blurred vision, or chest pain during driving. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Diflucan if you have any of these rare side effects: diarrhea, rash, itching, shortness of breath, headache, confusion, hallucinations, fits, fainting, or cold symptoms. Contact your doctor if you notice any of these effects while taking this medicine.
Alcohol
Alcohol can decrease the effectiveness of Diflucan. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking this medicine. Alcohol can interfere with the absorption of this drug and increase the risk of side effects. Consult your doctor before taking Diflucan if you are using the medicine to treat any liver disease.
Call your doctor if you have side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, or rash that bother you. You must seek medical attention immediately if any of these symptoms occur.Cautions
This medicine is not recommended for use if you have had a previous reaction to Diflucan: it may increase the risk of skin reactions such as blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin. Consult your doctor before taking Diflucan if you have any of these rare side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, rash, itching, skin rash, itchy skin, difficulty in breathing, swelling in your face or throat, swelling in your hands or feet, chest pain, fast heartbeat, itching, or dizziness. This medicine may cause a skin reaction, which may be worse in children. If you notice any of these rare side effects, stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, confusion, chest pain, itchy skin, fast heartbeat, swelling in your legs or feet, sweating, shortness of breath, and/or chest pain. If any of these side effects worsen or persist for a longer duration of treatment, please seek medical attention.
Call your doctor if you have side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, muscle pain, or swelling in your hands or feet. You must seek medical attention immediately if any of these side effects occur. You must seek medical attention if you notice or observe any unusual symptoms during treatment with Diflucan: fever, chills, rash, severe diarrhea, unusual bruising, weakness, fatigue, vomiting, nausea, vomiting water, brown or black tarry stools, bloody stools, or stomach pain.Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this drug affects you. Driving or operating machinery may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Consult your doctor before taking Diflucan if you have any of these rare side effects: diarrhea, rash, itchiness, headache, weakness, fatigue, vomiting, nausea, stomach cramps, vomiting blood in your stool, itching or hives, red or black tarry stools, sweating, rapid heartbeat, dizziness, or dark urine.
Fluconazole is used to treat serious fungal or yeast infections, including vaginal candidiasis, oropharyngeal candidiasis (thrush, oral thrush), esophageal candidiasis (candida esophagitis), other candida infections (including urinary tract infections, peritonitis [inflammation of the lining of the stomach], and infections that may occur in different parts of the body), or fungal (cryptococcal) meningitis. It is also used in children on life support called extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). This medicine works by killing the fungus or yeast, or preventing its growth. Fluconazole is also used to prevent candidiasis in patients having bone marrow transplants who receive cancer or radiation treatment.
Direction to Use:
DIFLUCAN® ONE is administered orally. Use in AdultsFor vaginal candidiasis, fluconazole 150 mg (DIFLUCAN® ONE) should beadministered as a single oral dose. The median time to onset of symptom relief following a 150 mg single oral dose for thetreatment of vaginal candidiasis is one day. The range of time to onset of symptomrelief is one hour to nine days. Use in ChildrenSingle dose fluconazole is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of ageexcept under doctor supervision.
Side Effects
Common fluconazole side effects include nausea, headache, and stomach pain. Diarrhea is also possible. Mild side effects tend to resolve on their own or go away when you finish your treatment course. Serious fluconazole side effects such as skin rash, liver damage, and heart rhythm changes are also possible

Diflucan is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that is commonly used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It is also used to treat fungal and parasitic infections.
